When You Yan doesn’t have any scheduled events, he usually doesn’t need me. But since I had free time anyway, I figured I might as well take on some side gigs. Even though he didn’t seem too keen on the idea, as long as I didn’t tell him, who would know?
It’s better to hustle while I’m still young and strong—earn more now for a freer future.
But I didn’t expect my little scheme to be exposed by You Yan right away.
“What did Fu Mo say to you?”
“N-nothing, he didn’t say anything.”
Seeing the guilty look on my face, he chuckled. “Pheromones don’t lie. The scent on you says he was at least… this close to you.”
You Yan’s tone suddenly dropped, and he yanked me over, his eyelids lowered, gaze dark and intense.
I instinctively reached out to put some distance between us.
“I just told him I could help out for a couple of days, that’s all.”
Now I wasn’t just feeling guilty—I was oddly nervous too.
You Yan had always been polite and gracious with me, but now the atmosphere was suddenly tense, like a storm was brewing.
“I told you, don’t even think about it.”
I knew the difference between a day’s pay and a regular salary, so I immediately apologized and promised I’d turn down the side job.
Only then did You Yan’s expression soften a little, but the mood in the car stayed heavy. It felt like he was still in a bad mood.
“Lately, there seem to be some stalker fans hanging around my neighborhood.”
As I was getting out of the car, he let out a sigh behind me. I froze, my mood instantly turning serious.
It had to be some ill-intentioned alpha.
My sister had once been followed by a predatory alpha who broke into our home while I was out buying groceries. If I hadn’t forgotten my phone and come back early, that bastard would’ve gotten away with it.
A lifelong mark can control an omega, especially one as attractive and wealthy as You Yan—there are plenty of people willing to risk it all for a prize like him.
It’s just too dangerous.
But surely You Yan’s place has top-notch security, and… he probably doesn’t live alone, right?
A celebrity of his age and status can’t possibly lack for partners.
“Living alone can be really lonely sometimes. I haven’t slept well these past few days, and I have an audition next week… sigh.”
You Yan rubbed his brow and leaned back in his seat, looking at me with a troubled, helpless expression.
“Liang Sen, you… you should get some rest too, okay? See you next time?”
Technically, his safety in his private space isn’t my responsibility, but if something actually happened, I’d lose this high-paying job.
So I only hesitated for two seconds before sitting back down in the car and sincerely offering, “How about I stay at your place for a couple of days? Once the stalker problem’s solved, I’ll leave.”
Even as I said it, I felt like I was overstepping. I didn’t dare meet his eyes, but I caught the slow smile tugging at his lips, his tone light.
“That would be a huge help. I’ll give you a raise.”
